The Quantum Activist [DVD]

Can science and spirituality be integrated?

“Even today, the tendency is to look at consciousness dualistically—consciousness separate from matter. This position is not compatible with science; so scientists have emphasized material monism/everything is matter philosophy. We show that this is not compatible with quantum physics. We then develop a fully paradox-free idea of monistic idealism—everything is consciousness. We discuss how a science based on this non-dual philosophy succeeds as an inclusive science that can deal with all natural phenomena.” ~Amit Goswami

The Quantum Activist tells the story of a man who challenges us to rethink our very notions of existence and reality, with a force and scope not felt since Einstein. This film bridges the gap between God and Science. The work of Amit Goswami, with stunning precision and without straying from the rigors of quantum mechanics, reveals the overarching unity inherent in the worlds major religions and mystical traditions.

Meet the man behind the message as Dr. Goswami tells how he moved away from the religious teachings of his childhood, to seek his path in nuclear and theoretical quantum physics, and how he has come full circle, through quantum insight, back to the very religious axioms offered as a youth.

With a poignant relevance to the problems of our day this film follows Dr. Goswami as he demonstrates how our mistaken views of reality have led to our current environmental, social, economic and spiritual crisis; as well as the means of correcting these errors. At stake is nothing less than our survival upon the planet. The Quantum Activist is a film for our time.

It is a film for all time. It is a film whose very subject transcends time.  Witty, profoundly insightful and colored with humor, the Quantum Activist brings you Amit Goswami’s vision of the universe. Steeped in the verifiable facts of Quantum Mechanics, Dr. Goswami dares to pose the question:

“What are you doing to participate in the creation of the reality we all share?”

The Quantum Activist is our first feature-length documentary, and as such has been nothing short of an exciting roller coaster ride from the very beginning. Taking years of background in storytelling, media, graphics, symbology, mythology and mysticism, we sought to combine our collective resources to create film that honors living. Something collaborative. Something useful to all of us.

Originating from a conference on the Oregon coast that was electric with excitement, enthusiasm and creativity, it became clear early on that Dr. Goswami’s theories were of benefit to us all.

Dr. Goswami’s teachings are precise and clear and yet… Just how do we represent non- locality?, discontinuity? Or the un-manifest? What wonderful contemplation, especially for a filmmaker who’s background is graphic arts! It took two full years time from our first meeting Dr. Goswami to having the film ready for public viewing. It has been an adventure in creativity and in enthusiastic living. The concepts of Do Be Do Be Do were instrumental in it’s creation.

Interestingly though, we want to point out that Dr. Goswami is himself The Quantum Activist. It is not ‘his’ movie. It was not solicited by him, nor were we employed by him to create the film. Instead, we were genuinely inspired by the work of this man and the notion that quantum physics can prove the existence of God. Never intended as anything more than a biographical study on a scientist and his life’s work, it is now calling people to become Quantum Activists around the world. Something we never expected from a such a humble documentary film. We are truly honored as to how the film is touching people’s lives.

We hope it instills inspiration and creativity in your life as well.

Amit Goswami, PhD is a retired professor from the theoretical physics department of the University of Oregon in Eugene, where he had served since 1968. He is a pioneer of the new paradigm of science called “science within consciousness”.

Goswami is the author of the highly successful textbook Quantum Mechanics used in Universities throughout the world. His two-volume textbook for non-scientists, The Physicist’s View of Nature traces the decline and rediscovery of the concept of God within science.

Goswami has also written many popular books based on his research on quantum physics and consciousness.

In his private life, Goswami is a practitioner of spirituality and transformation. He calls himself a quantum activist. He appeared in the film “What the Bleep Do We Know”, “The Dalai Lama Renaissance” and the award-winning documentary “The Quantum Activist.”

  1. It all seems a long shot. The premise may or may not be true, but who will ever really know? The last time I checked I was not an infinite being or eternal and so I am not so simple as to talk about things as if I were. It seems only god knows and he is not revealing everything to us!

  2. At best, science can only give us a conceptual explanation of non-dual reality. The direct experience of non-dual reality is difficult (more like impossible) to translate into our conceptual language for obvious reasons, but this gives small comfort to those of us that would like a conceptual explanation. The only conceptual explanation that makes any real sense is the holographic explanation, which is now an established part of science. If the world is understood as a hologram, then the inevitable conclusion is that the world is like a computer generated virtual reality world. Each view of the world is like a screen output from an underlying computer processing network. Each observer observes its own screen output from its own point of view. Just like a computer generated virtual reality, consensual reality is like the totality of screen outputs from the processing network. Just like a virtual reality game, different observers can interact with each other as different screen outputs share information due to interactions in the processing network. Modern theoretical physics explains how the processing network and the screen outputs arise. As an observer expends energy and enters into an accelerated frame of reference, an event horizon arises that encodes information and acts as a holographic viewing screen that projects perceivable images to the point of view of the observer. Images are coherently organized forms of information animated over a sequence of events. Images are only animated over a sequence of events and projected from the viewing screen to the point of view of the observer due to the observer’s expenditure of energy. That is the only way an event horizon arises in the observer’s accelerated frame of reference. The observer’s event horizon is the viewing screen that displays the observer’s world. What modern physics cannot explain is the observer’s underlying reality. Every computer generated virtual reality world must have an underlying reality, which is the observer’s underlying reality. Oddly, modern physics tells us that if the observer stops expending energy, the observer enters into a state of free fall, and the event horizon disappears. If the observer stops expending energy, then the observer’s world disappears and only the observer’s underlying reality remains. That underlying reality is referred to as non-dual.

  3. The current trend is to explain the universe is, as a computer, sure it might be processing information on some level, and all material reality might be nothing but an information device in some ways, but materiality was not made by the hand of man, so the analogy falls short. Anthropomorphism it seems still clouds our minds and limits our understanding. but I am sure it is all much, much, more than that, …it is a mystery that we by definition, will never solve.
I am sure that intelligent mice on some planet would concieve existence, and attribute it as the result of some awesome cheese eating divinity, but would they have any real insight into divinity except for the love of cheese?
